Derbyshire based consultancy, Nimbus Disability, has been appointed to deliver all services relating to access for disabled people at what is being billed as ‘The world’s Biggest Street Party’
On Sunday June 12th 2016, The Mall in St James’s Park was transformed for its largest ever street party to celebrate The Queen’s patronage of over 600 charities and organisations on the occasion of her 90th birthday
Sally Blake, Lead Consultant at Nimbus, has been working with Peter Philips, one of Queen Elizabeth’s oldest Grandchildren, and team since December last year planning the event.
Over the course of this time Nimbus has been involved in every aspect of planning and ticketing to ensure the event could be enjoyed by all.
On the day she lead a specialist team of over 30 in delivering a range of support services ranging from providing guests with hearing loop equipment, large print / braille event guides and a small support team running a wheelchair service.
She describes the event and the challenges considered in making sure disabled guests can access the event and have a great time;
“The last 6 months have been an utter pleasure. The team behind the event were so committed to a wondeful vision which extended to making sure that the event was inclusive as possible.
On the day we welcomed several hundred older and disabled people and provided them with support that meant they were able to comfortably enjoy the day; rain and all!
It was also a real pleasure to be able to extend the volunteering opportunities to the staff who typically work in our sister Charity Disability Direct”
Nimbus provides a wide range of services for businesses of all shapes and sizes and works with household names across the UK.
Martin Austin, Managing Director of Nimbus said;
“It’s a real honour and a great endorsement of where we are as a company to be handpicked to work on such a large scale prestigious event. Its also testament to the fact that, sitting alongside services such as training, auditing, ticketing and more, we are the only provider in the UK to offer such an holistic range of business to business services in relation to disabled people”
