Nimbus Disability reinforced its commitment to sector-wide accessibility by sponsoring the Unsung Hero category at the Variety Disability Sports Awards 2026. Held at London's @sohoplace, the awards evening brought together leaders, advocates, and organisations across the sports and entertainment industries to recognise excellence in accessible sport.

The Nimbus Disability Award for Unsung Hero was jointly awarded to Peter Wyman (Power Hockey, Power Football, and Wheelchair Racing) and Rick Rodgers (Cheer for Everyone). Both winners were selected by an expert judging panel chaired by Paralympic medallist Stef Reid MBE PLY for their exceptional work in creating inclusive sports environments.

Presenting the award, Martin Austin MBE, Managing Director of Nimbus Disability, highlighted the crucial link between community inclusion and seamless customer access:

"Grassroots champions like Peter and Rick demonstrate the extraordinary power of accessible sports. Their work inspires us to keep pushing for equal access across every touchpoint of the sports industry. For venues, leisure providers, and ticketers, true accessibility goes beyond the field of play – it starts the moment a customer looks to engage with your venue or purchase a ticket. By embedding inclusion into operational strategy, businesses can empower disabled participants and spectators alike."

Through its Queen's Award-winning technology, Nimbus Disability partners with leading ticketing systems, stadiums, and leisure operators to remove booking friction and streamline digital access management. By integrating with the Nimbus Operating System (NOS), venues can deliver compliant, dignifying customer journeys while reaching millions of active disabled consumers.
